We can only consider applicants who live in Illinois, Southeast Wisconsin (Madison & Milwaukee south), or Northwest Indiana (South Bend & Rensselaer west).

We do not adopt dogs to families who live outside this geographical area and we do not "ship" rescue dogs. All applicants within this geographical area must be able to physically travel to northern Illinois to meet/adopt a rescue dog. We like to keep our rescue dogs near us for peace of mind and post-adoption follow-up. There are shelter dogs in every state dying for good homes, therefore it is not practical for us to go through extraordinary efforts to place a dog several hundred miles away. We do not make exceptions to this policy under any circumstances.

Winston

Winston is new to our program. Photos and more information will be posted soon. If you are interested in adopting a Great Pyrenees, please fill out an adoption application.

LilyAnn

LilyAnn is a gentle young girl. She loves to play with her foster sister, Willow, also from GPRGC, and with her neighbor, a German Shepherd who often comes to visit.

When LilyAnn came into rescue she had not been socialized with people. She spent the first 6 months of her life in an outside pen, and was not used to the daily activity of living in a household. Everything was new to her. She has made great progress in her foster home. Her foster family exposed her to new experiences and Willow was her example of confident Pyrenean behavior.

She has come a very long way but needs a patient family who can spend time completing her socialization. We feel she would do best in a home with another dog. If you are interested LilyAnn please fill out an adoption application.

Emma

Emma is a sweet 6-year-old girl who loves the creature comforts. Give her a cushy bed and a few treats, and she’s smiling. Emma loves people. She’s initially a little cautious around men, but gets over it quickly if shown a little gentleness. Then she more than just loves to be petted — she insists on it! Wherever you are, she’ll want to be at your side, with your hand rubbing her head, please… She thinks she’s a lap dog at times and doesn’t apparently realize she’s a biscuit short of 100 lbs. Emma also likes other dogs, but needs to be the leader of the pack. Please consider giving this mellow darling a forever home! If you are interested in adopting a Great Pyrenees, please fill out an adoption application.

Hero

Hero is new to our program, so we've not had time to post photos of him yet. He's on the small side (for a Pyr), but has Pyr-sized love to give to his new family. We bring new dogs into our program as soon as we have space. Sometimes they are adopted before we even have a chance to post their photos here. If you are interested in adopting but don't see the right dog, please fill out an adoption application anyway. We may have the pyr-fect dog just waiting for you.

SHELTER POSTINGS
The dogs listed below are on the website as a courtesy to the Humane Societies. In most cases, they have not been evaluated by us, and therefore their descriptions may not always be 100% accurate. Please call the shelter or contact phone number given with each listing for more information. Please consider being a temporary care home!

There are no shelter referrals at this time.

Our continuing efforts depend on monetary donations,
temporary care homes, and volunteers.
Please consider helping us.
